Mordecai Ogle, Sr. 

Born: ca. 1765 in Maryland
Died: 1835 Muskingum County, Ohio

Buried: probably in Dresden, Ohio as he lived about a half mile north of the town. There is no stone listed in the county.

Married: Leonora Linton, September 23, 1793 in Allegany County, Maryland by William Shaw of the Methodist Episcopal Church.  The license was not issued in Allegany Co., MD. 

Records:
1790 - not found on census, Mordecai would have been about 25 years old.  His father is not found on the census either.

1800 - Allegany Co., MD census - listed as Mord Ogle family.  Mordecai living with Leonora and four children under 10.

1802 - Mordecai moved his family to Muskingum Co., Ohio settling just a half mile north of Dresden.

1820 - not found on census

1828 - Muskingum Co., OH, Jefferson Twp. personal tax list, 4 horses, 6 cows


1830 - Muskingum Co., OH census - Mordecai and Leonora living with four children between the ages of 10 and 19.  It's difficult to know if these are their children or grandchildren. 

1835 - Dec. 3, Muskingum County.  An inventory of the goods of chattles of the late Mordecai Ogle Sen'r Dec'd. per Leannah Ogle Admin'x [her mark]

We the undersigned to certify that we did on this 3d day of Dec. 1835 attend at the late residence of Mordecai Ogle Dec'd after being duly Qualified to appraise the goods & Chattles of s'd Dec'd find none.
