  1. I'm curious about your sources for info about John Colclasure. You list his death date as 19 Jan 1868. Do you remember where that info came from?

I am trying to document his daughter Nancy, whom many family trees show as married to Christopher Trinkle. However, there is a marriage record for a Nancy Colclasure who married a widower named Fielden Bridgewater in Clay Co on 19 Mar 1854. On the 1870 census, this couple has living with them a John Colclasure, age 74, who was born in KY. They are living next door to Abram Colclasure (another child of John and Rachel) and his family.

Nancy Trinkle is listed elsewhere on the 1870 census, widowed.

(To complicate things, Fielden Bridgewater's first wife was named Jemima Trnkle.)

I suspect that Nancy Bridgewater may be the daughter of John and Rachel, rather than Nancy Trinkle. And if the John Colclasure living with them is Nancy's father, then he couldn't have died in 1868.

Hope you see this and can help!

  2. Jan Eardley gives the date of death as 1853. I found John on the 1860 census, but I don't have a clear source for 1868. It's a mystery.
