May 1st - Sts. Phillip & James Feast Day
St. Philip
St. James the Less
A feast day in honor of two apostles. St. Philip is the patron saint of hatters and pastry chefs. He was from Bethsaida and he recruited Nathanael. St. James the Less was the son of Alphaeus. He is known as James the Less to distinguish him from Jesus' brother James and James the son of Zebedee.
The feast celebrates how ordinary men became pillars of the church. It gives hope to the rest of us as we aspire to holiness.
