Divorce: Anna Speer filed for divorce in 1906 on grounds that Charles would beat her and the children and that he would deny her proper food and clothing. In the petition she states that she stopped living with him on Oct. 1, 1902

Charles wrote a letter to the court stating that she was lying and further stating that she had left him without cause and stole as much money as she could from him.  He stated that she abandoned him along with four children.

Military Service: 1st Kentucky Cavalry, Confederate States of America. He served out his term of enlistment.

Census: 
1850 Kentucky, Oldham Co. - age 10 living with his parents and four siblings.

1860 Kentucky, Oldham Co. - age 17 living with his parents and five siblings.  He is listed as a farmer.

1870 Kentucky, Shelby Co. - age 27 a farmer with real estate valued at $5000 and personal estate at $2600.  Living with Anna, three children and his younger brother.  Marion is 15 working on the farm and owns real estate valued at $4000. 

1880 Kentucky, Shelby Co. - 36 living with Anna and eight children. Charles is listed as a farmer.

1900 Kentucky, Jefferson Co. - age 55 living with Anna and six children.

1910 Oklahoma, Creek Co. - age 66 Charles listed as a widower renting a farm.  He is living with his two youngest sons Roger and Luther and Luther's wife Jessie.

1920 Oklahoma, Creek Co. - age 76 Charles is living with his son Luther who is listed as a widower.  Charles owns a general farm.

Blanche b. 1864, d. 1864, probably the same day her mother died Sept. 1, 1864. They are buried in Floydsburg Cemetery in Oldham Co., KY.
