In Memoriam - November 10th

1793 William Darby age 62.  He was born in 1731 the son of William & Mary Darby.  William is buried at the Baptist Church in Scotch Plains, NJ.

1822 Jacob Colclasure the son of John & Mary Colclasure in Washington Co., IN age 58.  He was born in York Co., PA in 1764.  Jacob married Elinor Dennen and they had eight children:  Rachel, John, Mary, Susannah, Abraham, Abigail, Matilda and Washington.  Jacob moved his family from Pennsylvania to Kentucky in 1798 and to Indiana ca. 1805.
He wrote his will on the day he died:
In the name of God Amen.
I Jacob Colglasure of Washington County being long afflicted in body but of sound mind and recollection and being desirous of settling my worldly concerns do make this my last will testament and first having divided my property with my eldest children as they became of age or went to do for themselves (to wit) Mary McGrew, Rachel Friendly, Susanna Sulleger, Abygail Colglasure and Matilda Underwood, John Colglasure, Jacob Colglasure and Abraham  Colglasure to their equal part do give and bequeath to them the sum of one dollar each to be paid by my executors out of my estate – and second I give and bequeath to my son Washington Colglasure the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars in cash, that is due me on notes by Samuel Chambers, James Person, Enoch Buckhannon and Stephen Stallcup, after paying my just debts and funeral expenses out of the said sum, also my black mare and buck horse and bay coult with all my household and kitchen furniture also all my sheep and three cows and all my hogs except four large Barrows and my rifle gun with all its apparatus and thereby I do appoint my worthy friends Jacob Doan & John Chenoweth to be the executors of this my last will and testament revoking, dis_____ and disallowing of all former wills or will.

1906 Zadoc Maulding in Jefferson Co., IL age 69.  The son of Andrew & Hester (Hopkins) Maulding was born in 1837.  He married Elizabeth Boswell and they had six children: Elizabeth, Sarah, Louviney, Edith, Charles and Cora.

1949 William Speer son of Charles & Anna (Runyon) Speer in Louisville, KY, age 69.  He was born in Kentucky in 1880. 


1960 Mary (?) Peters age 71, the wife of Ira Peters.  She was born in 1889.  Mary is buried in the IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro, IL.

1967 Mada (Fitzgerald) Burress the daughter of James & Rebecca (Ward) Fitzgerald.  Mada was born in 1686 and was 81 when she died.  She married Arthur Burress.


1980 Services for Dorothea Lathrop 64 who died Monday at in St. John's Hospital in Springfield, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Summers Funeral Home.  Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. Thursday.  Burial is in Crest Haven Cemetery.
Donations can be made to either the Heart Fund or Cancer Fund.
Mrs. Lathrop was born in Clay County, May 11, 1916 to Charles and Nina (Inman) Pearson.  She married Kenneth Lathrop Aug. 22, 1937 and he died Sept. 7, 1972.
She is survived by a son, Gary, Findlay, Ohio; two daughters Mrs. Lynn Harrison, North Aurora and Mrs. Mary Ann McDowell, Olney; a sister Evelyn Weber, Olney; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Lathrop was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth and brother, Inman Pearson.
Dorothea Lathorp, 64 Services Held Fri.
Mrs. Dorothea Lathrop, 64-year-old resident of Olney, died in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Monday, Nov. 10, 1980.
She was born May 11, 1916 in Clay County, Ill., a daughter of Charles and Nina Pearson.  Her husband, Kenneth Lathorp, died Sept. 7, 1982.  The parents, one sister, Ruth and one brother Inman, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Gary Lathrop of Findlay, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Ann McDowell of Olney and Mrs. Lynn Harrison of North Aurora; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Weber of Olney; and four grandchildren.
Funeral rites were conducted Friday from the chapel of Summer Funeral Home in Olney, with the Rev. Elmer Fenton officiating.  Interment followed in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemeterry, west of Sumner.
1996 Mrs. Helen Louise Fitzgerald, 82, longtime Fairfield resident, died at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind., at 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996.
Her death was attributed to a heart condition.  She had suffered a stroke six months ago.  Mrs. Fitzgerald was employed at Fairfield Memorial Hospital for 17 ½ years.
Her husband John W. Fitzgerald, died two months ago.
Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Johnson Funeral Home, with Rev. Lawrence Ward officiating.  Interment will be in Koontz Cemetery.  Visitation at the Johnson Chapel will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (tonight).
She was born Sept. 10, 1914, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Nathan and Ella Miley Hutson.
On Mar. 24, 1930, she was married to John W. Fitzgerald, with 11 children born to this union.  Mrs. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by her husband, six children and her parents. 
She was a member of the Kings Chapel Congregational Christian Church.
Surviving are three sons, Charles W. and John Jr. both of Fairfield; and Harry, of Shelbyville; two daughters, Pansie Markham and Nancy Linder, both of Fairfield; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
