1675 Janes brothers  Ebenezer age 16 & Jonathan age 14 killed in Indian raid on Northfield, MA.  This was one of a series of attacks in the area beginning in Brookfield on August 2^nd and Deerfield on September 1^st. 

The next morning, Sept. 2, the band of savages that had been lying in wait near Miller’s river, appeared in force at Squakheag.  They had just received the large reinforcement of a war party of Nashaways, headed by Sagamore Sam and One-eyed John, the latter of whom was probably the leading spirit in this attack on our village, and the assault on Capt. Beers two days later.

This was the season for drying their flax; and ignorant of what had happened the day before to their neighbors at Deerfield, our people went about their work as usual that morning.  Both the soldiers and the settlers appear to have been scattered in the meadows and homelots, when the assault was made.  According to the Rev. Mr. Hubbard, “some were killed in their houses, others as they were coming out of the meadows; the rest, men, women and children, fled to their fort, unable to sally out and repel the enemy.  The savages kept around them, killed many of their cattle, destroyed their grant (wheat which was harvested and in the stook), burnt up the houses that were outside the stockade, and laid all waste.”  This affair took place Thursday Sept. 2, 1675.

The number of whites officially reported as killed, was eight, viz: Sergt. Samuel Wright, aged about 45, Ebenezer Janes, aged 16, and Jonathan Janes, 14, sons of Elder William Janes (these three belonged to Squakheag), Ebenezer Parsons, aged 20, son of Joseph of Northampton, John Peck of Hadley, Nathaniel Curtis of Northampton, Thoams Scott and Benjamin Dunwich, residence unknown.  Only one of the Indians was reported killed.  [Temple, Josiah & George Sheldon.  A History of the Town of Northfield, Massachusetts]

The boys were born in Northfield, MA and were the sons of William & Mary (?) Janes. 

1872 Robert Long son of John & Nancy (?) Long age 1 in Kentucky.  He is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Oldham Co. KY.

1878 Elizabeth (Spencer) Lathrop age 49 in Richland Co., IL.  She was born in Illinois in 1828 and married Rev. Erastus Lathrop.  They had eight children: Olive, Henry, Oscar, Allen, Mary, Ada, Frederick and Martha.  Elizabeth is buried in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney, IL.
