In Memoriam July 18th

1940 John Brooks age 73 in Clay Co., IL.  Born in Clay Co., IL in 1867 he married Fanny Bryan, sister of Edward below.  John is buried in Ingraham Cemetery in Ingraham, IL.

1956 Edward Bryan the son of Wesley & Catherine (Smith) was born in Clay Co., IL in 1877 and married Jessie McKnight in 1903.  He was 78 years old.

Albert Lathrop
1971 Albert Lathrop, 64, well-known Wayne City resident, died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville from a complication of severe diabetes, ulcers and internal bleeding.  He was a school teacher for 44 years and also had engaged in farming.

Mr. Lathrop had been previously hospitalized here and was at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon a month before being transferred to the Evansville hospital late Thursday night.
He taught in one room schools for 24 years and in consolidated schools for 20 years, the past five at the Aden grade school.  He taught at Sims and at the old Scrub Hill, Keenes and No. 9 schools, among others.  He had a great concern and love for children and enjoyed teaching them.
He was born in the Scrub Hill vicinity south of Wayne City Oct. 30, 1906, the son of Joel and Louisa Dove Lathrop.
Mr. Lathrop graduated from Wayne City High School in 1927 and then attended Southern Illinois Normal University at Carbondale.  Five of his children have been or are teachers.
Mr. Lathrop was married to the former Grace Butler.  He was a longtime member of the Wayne City First United Methodist church and taught a Sunday School class there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Forrest and Roscoe Lathrop, and a sister Lova Austin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson's Chapel with burial in Thomason's Cemetery. 
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Monday (today).
Memorial gifts may be sent to Wanda Gross, treasurer of the United Methodist Church at Wayne City.
Surviving are his widow; three sons Bobbie of Rock Falls; and Billy and James, both of Wayne City; four daughters, Mrs. Ivan (Bonnie) Holler and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Bolton, both of Fairfield; Mrs. Phil (Dorothy) Utley of Tifton, Ga.; and Mrs. Eshmal (Betty) Porter of St. Louis, Mo.; three brothers Bernard and Raymond Lathrop both of Wayne City; and Rufus, of Anna; four sisters, Mrs. Gertie Shaw of Rochelle; Mrs. Howard Shelton of Wayne City; Miss Tressa [sic] Lathrop, of Wayne City; and Mrs. Zelpha Shelton of Wayne City; and 14 grandchildren.
1990 Herschel Legg age 83 in Olney, IL.  Herschel was born in Wayne Co., IL in 1906 and was the husband of Irene Osborn.  They had one daughter Marla.  Herschel is buried in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL.
