1706 Henry Norris in
Elizabeth, NJ age 61. Born ca. 1645 in
England he was the son of Edward & Dorothy Norris. Henry married Abigail Stratton and they had
at least one child Hannah. The family
immigrated to the U.S. before 1670. He
left a will:
Henry Norris of Elizabeth Town, yeoman, dated Mar. 26, 1705. Children: Henry, Abigail wife of Daniel Sharp of Woodbridge, Hannah Clarke, Ester Crane, Samuel, Ruth, Sarah, Margaret, (His wife Abigail Stratton, daughter of John, of Easthampton) Real and personal estate. Executors: son Samuel and daughters Ruth and Sarah. Witnesses: Isack and Samuel Whitehead, Benj. Spining. Codicil of May 4, 1706, appoints Benj. Price, Jr., and Andrew Hampton of Elizabethtown as overseers. Witnesses: Samuel Whitehead, Daniel Sate. Proved and Ruth Morris sworn in as executrix, May 21, 1706.
1898 Casper C. Lathrop - We are sorry to learn that Charley Lathrop of Amity lost another child -- a 4 year old who died of brain fever. He died May 10, 1898 and is buried in Amity Cemetery in Richland Co., IL.
1973 Ota (Scrivner)
Marshall, age 73 the daughter of Joel & Frances (Gentle) Scrivner. She married V.O. Marshall in 1923.
1977 George M. Lewis, 68,
a former Wayne County man who was reared in Four Mile township, died Saturday
morning in the McLeansboro hospital from emphysema.
He was admitted to the hospital Friday.
He was the stepfather of Mrs. Ivan Holler and Mrs. Robert Bolton, both of Fairfield.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday (today) at Gholson's Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Zion Cemetery south of Keenes.
Surviving Mr. Lewis are his wife, the former Grace Lathrop, of Wayne City; one daughter Myrtle Madden of Ohio; two brothers Berlon of Florida; and Archie of Keenes; seven stepchildren, Bill and Jim Lathrop, of Wayne City; Bob Lathrop of Sterling; Mrs. Holler and Mrs. Bolton, of Fairfield; Mrs. Eshmal Porter of St. Louis; Mrs. Phil Utley of Tifton, Ga.; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
