In Memoriam March 6th


1737 Wilhelmina (Dewees) Rittenhouse wrote her will.  She was born ca. 1665 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands the daughter of Garrett & Zytian (Lieuwes) Dewees.  Wilhelmina married Nicholas Rittenhouse in New York in 1689 and they had nine children: Sophia, William, Peggy, Mary, Maria, Catherine, Susanna, Henry and Mattias.  She is buried in the Mennonite Cemetery in Germantown, PA.
The following is a translation from Pennsylvia German by D. K. Cassel of the will Wilhelmina DeWees, the wife of Klaus Rittinghausen, dated 6 March, 1737.
"A record concerning the disposition Mother's order as she is at present sickly in body and her soul Commanding in the hands of the almighty creator in Jesus Amen.
Firstly:-I give to Peggy Ruthynhuysen my Spinning wheel.
Secondly:-I give to Marya Ruthynhuysen the looking glass and to Susanna I give the Fire Irons, and to Margryta and Anna I give each a chair
And to Susanna Gorgas I give a Tea pot and china.
And Marya Gorgas I give a Sugar bowl and Small Iron Pann.
And Willemyna Ruttynhuysen I give the Pot hook and Gallon can.
And Marya Engel I give an apron and two handkerchiefs.
And to Scyntia Gorgas I give the under feather bed and a pillow and a brass kettle for which she pays six florins.
And Marya Jansen the upper bed with the cover.
And to Gertrude Engel I give the large and small cushions.
And to Susanna Heilig 1 give the large and small cushions.
And Henderych Ruttynhuysen I give the. woolen Blanket.
And Mattys Ruttynhuysen 1 give a cloak. That all these on the above date was undersigned in the presence of us."

1847 Rhoda Powell age 3 months in Richford, VT.  She was the daughter of George & Miranda Powell and is buried in the Old Richford Cemetery.

1996 Guy Courtright in Cisne, IL age 85.  The son of Stokely & Gladys (Fields) Courtright was born in 1910 and married Mildred McCracken.  He is buried in Bestow Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.

2007 Bill Lathrop, 70 Wayne City, died Tuesday, Mar. 6, 2007 at 9:15 p.m. at his home.
Mr. Lathrop was a retired teacher and school administrator.
Funeral services were held Thursday (today) at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wayne City with Rev. Will Deuel officiating.  Visitation was from 1 p.m. Thursday until service time at the church.  Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.  Burial was in Thomason Cemetery [sic].
Bill was born Dec. 4, 1936 in Wayne County to Albert and Grace Butler Lathrop.  He married Trixie Erkman on Dec. 26, 1958.
Bill was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wayne City; Wayne City Ruritan Club and SIU Carbondale.
Survivors include his wife of Wayne City; a son, Stephen Lathrop of Springfield; a daughter Suellyn Lathrop of Greenville, NC; two brothers Bob (Doretta) Lathrop of Sterling and Jim Lathrop of Wayne City; and four sisters, Bonnie (Ivan) Holler, Barbara (Bob) Bolton of Fairfield, Betty (Eshmal) Porter, St. Louis, Mo., and Dorothy (Phil) Utley of Tifton, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Wayne City, or Wayne City High School Scholarship Foundation and will be accepted at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City.
2007 Jimmy Joe Paul, 42, Geff, died Tuesday Mar. 6, 2007 at 4:50 p.m. at his residence in Geff.
He was an over the road truck driver for Jim Arrtman Trucking in Ripon, Calif.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Union Cemetery.  Visitation is Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Nale’s.
Jimmy Joe was born Sept. 9, 1964 in Wayne County to Thomas and Mary Jane Robertson Paul.  He was never married.
Survivors include his mother of Geff; one brother Fred (Cyndi) Paul of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister Tina (Dennis) Bailey of CIsne; one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
