In Memoriam March 31st

1717 John Moss in Wallingford, CT.  He married Martha Lathrop in 1677 and they had ten children: Mary, Esther, Samuel, John, Martha, Solomon, Israel, Issac, Mary and Benjamin.

1879 John Fyffe in Lawrence Co., IL age 58 born in Illinois in 1820.  He married Lucy Lathrop in Lawrence Co., IL in 1852 and they had four children: Mary, Charles, Edgar and Cynthia.

1881 Abraham Colclasure in Oskaloosa, IL of pneumonia age 65.  He was born in 1816 in Indiana the son of John & Rachel (Galbraith) Colclasure.  Abraham married Catherine Galbraith in Washington Co., IN in 1837 and they had fifteen children: Nancy, Elizabeth, Eliza, John, Ellen, Jacob, Emily, William, Richard, Robert, Mary, Martha, Abraham, Perry and Henry.  He is buried in Oak Mound Cemetery in Clay Co., IL.


1929 James Robertson age 89 in Wayne Co., IL he was born in Lawrence Co., OH in 1839 the son of David & Rebecca (Clark) Robertson.  His family moved to Wayne Co., IL ca. 1845.  James married Mary Maulding in Middleton, IL in 1868 and they had seven children: Idella, Laura, James, Hannah, John, Mary  and Jennie.  He is buried in Salem / Mateer Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.

1937  John W. Smith Dies Suddenly Tuesday -- John W. Smith died suddenly at the home of Fred Tolliver of Hoosier Tuesday.  Mr. Smith was 86 years old and had been making his home with his daughter Mrs. Tolliver.
Coroner D.C. Burrow was summoned and held an inquiry.  The cause of death was Myo Carditis and senility.
Funeral services were held on Thursday. Internment in Ingraham.
1999 Funeral rites for 102-year-old Clara Bell Dove of Cisne and formerly of Keenes, were conducted Saturday afternoon from the Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City, with Bro. Chuck Smith officiating.
Interment was in Bruce Cemetery near Wayne City.
There was visitation prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dove, a housewife, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 31, 1999, at the Cisne Health Care Center.
She was born in Wayne County Mar. 20, 1897, the daughter of William and Phoebe Solomon Wood.
She was married to Joseph Dove, who preceded her in death in 1955.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, two sons and one grandson.
She was a member of the Keenes Christian Church.
Surviving are one son, Keith Dove of Fairfield; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
2000 James H. Shaw, 95, of Wayne City died 1;58 p.m. March 31, 2000 at Mt. Vernon Care Center.
He was a retired farmer and worked at Rochelle Cannery many years ago.
Mr. Shaw was born Dec. 18, 1904, in Wayne County, a son of Charles and Laura (Robertson) Shaw.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Salem Free Will Baptist Church, under the direction of York Funeral Home of Wayne City with the Rev. Jesse Allen officiating.  Burial will be at Mateer-Davis Cemetery at Salem Free Will Baptist Church.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at York Funeral Home in Wayne City and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Mr. Shaw is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
He was a member of the Salem Free Will Baptist Church near Wayne City.
