In Memoriam January 22nd

1982 Funeral services for Cora Gurley Miller, 72, Wayne City, were to be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the First Christian Church of Wayne City, of which she was a member, with the Rev. John Snowdon officiating.  Burial will follow in Thomason Cemetery.  Mrs. Miller died at 10:45 p.m. Friday at her home.  She was born in Jefferson County Feb. 18, 1909, the daughter of George and Pheebie [sic] (Lane) Baldridge.  She was first married to Lyman Gurley, and he died Feb. 24, 1959.  She later married Clarence Miller in March 1969 and he survives.  In addition to her husband, survivors include two step-sons, Warren Miller and Ashley Miller both of Wayne City; five stepgrandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Homer Baldridge of Bluford, Everett Baldridge of Rockford and Charles Baldridge of Michigan; and four sisters, Oda Rainwater of Mt. Vernon, Ella Shields of Clay City, Laura Preston of Freeburg and Lela Waller of Sesser.

2011 Hazel Alice Colclasure, 81, of Burnt Prairie, died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 in the Fairfield Memorial Hospital emergency room. She wrote the Burnt Prairie news for the Wayne County Press, Carmi Times and the Grayville Navigator.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 26 at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Tim Collins officiating.  Burial will be in the Burnt Prairie Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.  She was born July 17, 1929 in Wayne County to C.T. and Nellie Bond Rudesill.  On June 17, 1949 she married Edward Dale Colclasure.  He died on Oct. 24, 2009.  Mrs. Colclasure had worked as a driver for Crawford Bus Service in Lockport. 

Surviving are four daughters, Cheryl Head of Mt. Vernon, Debbie Robb of Essix, Angie Anselmo of Millbrook and Kim Hill of Springfield; a son, Ed Colclasure, Jr. of Meadowlands, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a sister, Ethel Weyer of Orrville, Ohio.  She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters, her husband and two sons.
