June 21st

Happy Midsummer’s Day!  The longest day of daylight in the year - go out and dance around a maypole, light a bonfire and stay up all night.

Midsummer's Anniversaries:

1562 – William Bradford & Alice Hanson in Austerfield, England.  William born 1561 Austerfield was the son of William Bradford.  Alice, the daughter of John & Margaret (Gressam) Hanson was baptized 1562 in Austerfield.  The couple had at least three children.  William died 1591 aged 30 and Alice died 1597 aged 34 in Austerfield.

Barbara, Mabel, Paul & Paul Jr.
1942 – Paul Robertson & Mabel Butler in Sims, IL.  Paul was the son of Leonard & Grace (Atkinson) Robertson born 1923 in Wayne Co., IL.  Mabel born 1918 was the daughter of Morton & Mary (Robertson) Butler.  She and Paul were cousins.  They had three children.  Paul worked at Airtex and sawmills.  He also owned his own woodworking shop.  Mabel was a waitress for many years.  Paul and Mabel both died in 1996 in Evansville, IN.  They are buried in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL.

1952 – Gale Rainwater & Clara Fry in Mt. Vernon, IL.  Gale is the son of Earl & Lucile (Reese) Rainwater.  The couple have three children.

1952 – John Ayers & Alice Richardson.  Alice is the daughter of Cyril & Margaret (Lee) Richardson was born 1937 and died in 1970.  The couple have three children.

1969 – Dennis Hamson & Dorothy Johnson at the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church.  Dennis is the son of Vern & Nola (Ward) Hamson.  Dorothy is the daughter of Arthur & Hallie (Harper) Johnson.  They have two children.


1971 – Brad Scrivner & Mary Rainwater in Mt. Vernon, IL.  Brad is the son of Vernon & Lena (Irvin) Scrivner.  Mary is the daughter of Lawrence & Frances (Reese) Rainwater.  They have two children.
