History:  The first member of the Tyler family to come to Virginia was Henry Tyler, of Shropshire, England, who with his wife and family, settled on a small estate in "Middle Plantation" near Williamsburg, which was granted him for transporting six persons to the colony. 

This family has given many illustrious sons to America, among them John Tyler, Sr., Speaker of the House of Delegates, member of the Convention of 1788, Judge of the General Court of Virginia, Governor of Virginia, Founder of the "Literary Fund" in Virginia and Judge of the United States District Court.

• Joyce (Wright) Weaver, husband Morris, sister Audrey Wegner. Retired 2 1/2 years. Spouse retired 6 1/2 years. We travel constantly (warm climes in the winter). We own several timeshare condos and surf the interstates. In Sept. we will visit Kentucky, South Carolina (Hilton Head) & Georgia. Then in November Branson & Hot Springs, Arkansas.

1723 - April 3 - St. Mark's Parish, Spotsylvania Co., VA - On 3 April 1733, Richard Mauldin of St. Mark's Parish, Spotsylvania County, deed 1774 acres in St. Mark's Parish to Nicholas Battalie, Gent., of  St. Mary's Parish Caroline County.  The land was part of a tract bought of Mauldin out of another tract granted to James Taylor, deceased, by patent, 21 July 1722.  Jane ,wife of Richard Mauldin, acknowledged dower.

Rev. John Sutton's wife was Ruth Stout, gdau. of Col. Joseph Stout, son of Jonathan Stout, son of Richard & Penelope Stout, first English settler in New Jersey. Jonathan constituted Hopewell Baptist Church, Hopewell, New Jersey. An old progenitor, William Sutton, a Quaker came to America ca. 1836. Ruth Stout was also a descendant of Capt. Jas. Bolen from Hingham, England and first Secretary of Providence, New Jersey.

The Duncans, Brownings & Mauzys came from Culpepper, Virginia. Some of them had been married in Culpepper by Lewis Conneran honored Baptist Preacher and a worthy soldier, who fought alongside their fathers in the American Revolution.
